Wonder

Wonder is being used as a year 7 text by one of our local schools and it’s easy to see why. It’s very well written and it tackles, with great humour and sensitivity, the themes of bullying, of fitting in when you are different, and of friendship.

August is disfigured and has been from birth and is about to attend middle school for the first time (after being homeschooled for all of his younger years). This is his story, of making true and false friends, and of ‘making it’ in a place where all most people want to do is blend into the background.
